Vigil for All Nascent Human Life

On the eve of the first Sunday of Advent – Saturday evening November 27, 2010 – Pope Benedict XVI will lead a Vigil for Nascent (Unborn) Human Life at St. Peter’s in Rome, and he has asked the world’s Bishops and priests to do the same in their own dioceses and parishes.

The Sisters of Life We will be participating in the Chanting of Vespers at Vincent Ferrer Parish (Lexington between 65th and 66th Streets) at 7 p.m. with Reverend Walter Wagner, O.P.  preaching

All are welcome!

The Pope describes the... intention of the Vigil as follows: “The time of preparation for Holy Christmas is a favorable moment to invoke Divine protection over each human being called to existence, also as thanksgiving to God... for the gift of life received from our parents.”

Prayer Request

The Billingsley family have 7 kids and are a wonderful Catholic family in the Nashville parish. They are experiencing tremendous suffering now because their oldest son, 17 year old Marshall, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ewing's Sarcoma - an extremely rare bone cancer that has spread to his lung. He just began 8 weeks of chemo, to be followed by surgery. Because the cancer was so far along when they caught it, he has been given a 10%-30% chance of survival. Please keep this family in your prayers daily (the father is currently unemployed as the Saturn factory where he was working closed), that their suffering may not be in vain and that they will trust in the Lord.

There is a flourishing devotion to Bl. Pier Girogio Frassati among the Nashville Catholic community. Christine Wohar, head of FrassatiUSA, lives here in town! Since he needs one more miracle to his name for canonization, we are asking him to intercede on behalf of Marshall Billingsley and grant a miraculous healing. Please join us in praying the prayer below and pass it on to all who would be interested in furthering Bl. Pier Giorgio's cause. If we could get this to spread viral online that would be fantastic.

Pier Giorgio said, “Prayer is the noble supplication which we lift up to the throne of the Most High. It is the most efficient means to obtain from God the graces which we need.”
(Speech to the Catholic Youth of Pollone, July 29, 1923)

"O merciful God,
Who through the perils of the world
deigned to preserve by Your grace
Your servant Pier Giorgio Frassati
pure of heart and ardent of charity,
listen, we ask You, to our prayers and,
if it is in Your designs that he be glorified by the Church,
show us Your will,
granting us the graces we ask of You, particularily, a complete and miraculous healing for Marshall Billingsley,
through his intercession,
by the merits of Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Amen."
